The world suddenly and tragically learned of the death of Whitney Houston 9 years ago today, on February 11th, 2012. Whitney Houston proves to be the greatest singer to have ever lived, with an effortlessly powerful voice and angelic, sassy and infectious persona.

Blackaphillyated is remembering WHitney Houston for her insane talent, humour and fierce personality. Whitney Houston was born August 9, 1936 and lived a short 48 years. Throughout her life, she proved time again that she is the best of the best.

From legendary hits like “I Will Always Love You” to dance floor sensations like “I Wanna Dance With Somebody”, even her timeless rendition of the Star Spangled Banner, Whitney Houston always surprised her audience.

One of my favourite Whitney songs is “It’s Not Right But It’s Okay” because of the R&B vibes in the song, it’s very empowering if you’ve gone to heartbreak or can imagine yourself in that situation.

Another song that is timeless by Whitney Houston, possibly her best song, is “I Have Nothing”, this song is about being in a position where you love someone so strongly that you need them in your life and by your side or there will be no purpose.

One other thing about Whitney is that she was extremely comical and gave some of the best interviews, she always had a quick wit and gave amazing comebacks. Check out this video of Whitney’s funny highlights below:

We will continue to remember Whitney Houston as the greatest voice to ever live and celebrate her legacy!
