I’m inspired by women everyday. Whether it’s my mother becoming one of The youngest principals in her county to women constantly chasing their dreams and never letting anyone stop them. Women have always made life look super easy, tackling every battle that comes to them and securing the bag for their families in anyway they can – women rule the world and here are few that have inspired me in the past month.
Savannah Britt (@sav_britt)
When it comes to content creation, creativity and taking your brand to the next level, Savannah Britt has been the go-to connect for those services and more. Britt has been in the game since she was 12, becoming one of the youngest magazine publishers. She started Girlpez Fashion Magazine which focused on fashion, beauty, and self-empowerment for teen girls.
Britt’s publication Girlpez earned her a personal congrats from Teen Vogue’s then Editor-in-Chief Amy Astley, becoming the youngest magazine publisher in the world (goals right)!
At the age of 24, Britt has stayed consistent within her field making her a powerful name in the industry. Britt is a millennial, beautiful and about her business which is another reason why she inspires me. She’s a true boss and her client list is unmatched!
After ending Girlpez in 2012, Britt founded an international communications agency called The Brittprint (formerly GP & Britt Public Relations). With a focus in public relations, marketing, and content creation, the agency has cultivated relevant work with clients such as Fat Joe, DJ Khaled, Gucci Mane, Ryan Leslie, 2 Chainz, Lil Yachty, Smoke DZA, Alessia Cara, Kevin Gates, 24hrs (Royce Rizzy), Madeintyo, Pelle Pelle and more.
She’s inspirational and will definitely inspire you too.
Tiana Lewis (@famoustiana)
Tiana Lewis, the queen of every music genre and a person that has succeeded in every task given to her. Lewis, hailing from Boston, Massachusetts, started as an intern at Warner Music Group and is now the Head of Pop Programming at Pandora.
Lewis worked her way up year by year working for notable companies such as Atlantic Records, Viacom and Sony Music. When I first met Tiana, I knew that she would be someone’s executive one day. She was my manager while my time at Sony Music and if she seen potential in you, she encouraged you to reach the highest level. Being mediocre wasn’t an option and if you look at her resume, she’s a prime example of that. Currently Lewis is traveling the United States, going to concerts daily and being the best auntie!
What’s next for Tiana? She’s heading to the top and she’s not even 30!
Karen Vaughn (@karenvaughn)
Karen Vaughn, a woman of many job titles but, masters all of them well, has been an inspiration and someone who has pushed me to go higher. Vaughn is currently the Operations Manager for Radio One Philadelphia but, has been to several markets and has gained fans in each city such as Miami, Indianapolis, Philadelphia and Cleveland.
Her radio broadcasting expertise have earned her numerous honors and awards throughout her career. She has been honored as Assistant Program Director and Music Director of the Year from Billboard Magazine, Radio and Records Magazine and Gavin Magazine. Her Radio show has also been nominated for Urban Radio Personality/Show of the year, named on R&R Magazine’s “Women on the Rise” Top Ten list. Most recently Karen has been inducted in the Broadcaster’s Hall of Fame.
Karen is a Temple University alumni and is all for women empowerment, self-care and being a working diva! Karen gave me my first shot in radio, producing her show “Work with Karen,” and I learned something new from her everyday! She taught me that one key to making it in this business is to know how to do everything. She taught me that you also have to be non-transparent at times especially being a woman.
Karen is not only a boss running three stations, she’s also a mother and a wife. She shows that you can have it all: career, family and love life. She’s more than an inspiration, she’s a major role model.
Kierra Taylor (@hairbyktaylor)
People from hometown doing great things is always inspirational! As the hair industry began to grow, Kierra Taylor began to dabble into the fast-growing industry, becoming a master at the age of 20.
Taylor is from Kinston, North Carolina, a small way town that has many talented people within. Taylor began doing hair while still attending high school and her skills has separated herself from every hairstylist in eastern North Carolina. She continues to improve and is steady killing frontals. Personally I have seen Kierra improve tremendously and I’m so proud of her! To be so young and driven is amazing. This year Kierra has had a great success with growing clientele and receiving her first celebrity clients, Anais, who appeared on Love and Hip-Hop: New York.
She’s such an inspiration to me and I know you’ll definitely be inspired by her. She’s young and getting to the money!
