There are always artists who never get their deserved credit, especially in the West Coast. One of the MOST underrated Hip-Hop artists from the West is LA’s own Nipsey Hussle.
Nipsey has been in the game since the early 2000’s and has worked with the games hottest rappers such as Drake, The Game, Rick Ross and even Sade. In 2013, he exclusively released his Crenshaw mixtape, only producing 1000 copies, each to be sold at $100 a piece! Not only did he sell them all, but he also received a major co-sign from Jay-Z, who personally purchased 100 copies. Nowadays he can be seen promoting his self-owned, LA based “Marathon Store” or booed up with actress and longtime girlfriend, Lauren London.
Prior to opening his “Marathon Store,” Nipsey dropped an amazing body of work known as “Slauson Boy 2.” This project, in my opinion, is without a doubt one of his deepest bodies of work. If I had to give any picks from this album, I have to highlight Clarity (feat. Dave East and Bino), Status Symbol 2 (feat. Buddy), Thug Life (feat. Young Thug), and Stressed Out. However, before listening, this is not a project you pick random songs to listen to. This project needs to be played from beginning to end.
With that being said, stop sleeping on this gem, wake up, and listen below!
