A Barbadian prison just took in a suspect for the murder of Rihanna’s cousin, Tavion Alleyne, who was shot and killed the day after Christmas while walking home from a celebration.
A local newspaper in Barbados reported that St. Michaels, Barbados resident, 23-year-old Shawayne Williams was arrested and charged for the crime. Witnesses say he was “emotionless” while listening to the charges that he was charged with. He will be held in prison until January 31, 2018, his next court hearing.
The death of her cousin strengthened Rihanna’s awareness of the issue of gun violence, hash-tagging #endgunviolence in a tribute post on Instagram.
Fans also sent her condolences to Rihanna on social media as well.
