Don’t play with Saud is the correct term to use when talking about Saudia Shuler and her amazing efforts to uplift those in the North Philadelphia community. The Country Cookin and Friends Back to School Drive was filled with love, happiness and simply, culture.
Despite what Shuler is going through, she decided to have this give back for the community and this was something needed to start the school year off right. Not only did Shuler give out items for children in grade school but, they were also able to give out college supplies.
“It’s awesome. This year we gave out 5,000 book bags. I’ve never given over 2,000 book bags before so this is really huge for me,” she said. “This year we were able to give out college stuff, we gave out laptops, we gave out printers, refrigerators.”
Some of the children in Philadelphia are growing up in poverty and with the economy steadily rising, may not be able to afford backpacks and school supplies. Imagine having 3 or 4 brothers and sisters, your mom is a single parent working two jobs and at times, the oldest is the one in charge. The children of Philadelphia witness so much at a young age that deeds like this are essential for them to keep striving and dreaming.
Shuler has help from many organizations such as Shop Rite, Radio One (Boom 103.9), Daily Dove Care, Tandem and many more. There so many people in attendance at the event including performances from LGP Qua, Phat Geez and more.
There’s NO other city like Philadelphia and it makes me so happy to see the children having fun and surrounded by positivity. Keep doing your thing Saud! They can’t stop you!
