Rapper T.I says that he plans to boycott the NFL this year due to the national anthem policy that was put in place earlier this year. T.I recently sat with BET’s Genius Talks host Jemele Hill to explain why he is making this decision despite the 2019 Super Bowl being held in Atlanta this year. The Atlanta rapper stated “I think there is a violation of constitutional rights being implemented to minority players who choose to have peaceful, silent protest”.
The NFL announced back in May that all players must stand or the have the option to remain in the locker room. If players were to decide to kneel on the sideline during the anthem, that player and his team would be subjected to fines.
T.I. expressed that people shouldn’t support the NFL, if they can not support the players rights to peacefully protest against social inequality.
