Up to 300 people were expected at a rally to support a Philadelphia native accused of shooting six Philadelphia police officers.
Maurice Hill is behind bars in connection with the shootings, which occurred Wednesday August 14th. Police were serving a warrant as part of a drug investigation when Hill reportedly opened fire, injuring six officers.
He then barricaded himself inside his home in an hours-long standoff that eventually ended when police fired tear gas grenades into the home.
“Sadly, we do have to be there, I don’t understand it. There’s certain marches I do understand, this is definitely not one of them,” Commissioner Richard Ross said.
Hill is still in jail right now while he waits to be arraigned.
