Jay-Z just released a video for his “4:44” track “Moonlight”, and is it is a modern-day black version of the 90’s hit show, “Friends”, that has us wishing it was a real series.
The video features a strong cast with “The Carmichael Show” actor and comedian, Jerrod Michael, and “Insecure” actress Issa Rae playing the roles of Ross and Rachel, while “Get Out” star, Lil Rel Howery, plays Joey.
The rest of the “Friends” cast is filled by “Atlanta” actor, Lakeith Stanfield, who plays Chandler, “Girls Trip” actress, Tiffany Haddish, who plays Phoebe and “Dear White People” actress, Tessa Thompson, who plays the role of Monica.
In the Alan Young-directed visual, they start by basically reenacting a scene from “Friends”. Howery points out the obvious, that it is the black version of “Friends”, and Carmichael walks off set after realizing that Howery is right. This Rae and Carmichael walk off set and the beat drops. Carmichael goes outside to stare at the moon paying tribute to the Award-Winning film “Moonlight” and the visual ends with a recording of “La La Land” being given the award even though it really went to “Moonlight”.
Now, the video is available on YouTube so click play above and enjoy!
