Imagine walking down 15th street in center city Philadelphia with your girlfriend(s) on a Saturday afternoon in midterms have just ended and you can breathe easy until finals but your not worried about that now. Spring break is soon approaching and you need an outfit, maybe several. Besides what would Jamaica be if you didn’t pop out?
You pass several stores: H&M, Forever 21, Nordstrom Rack etc. But none of these seem to be appealing to you at the moment. You want something different.
You glance a little further down the street and on the corner you Fenty. Not Fenty Beauty, not Fenty x Savage but Fenty Apparel like actual clothes made by the Caribbean Queen herself, Rihanna.
If you were to actually see this store what would you do? Scream? Run inside? Pass out from excitement? Mixture?
Well you may not have to guess for long if the rumors are true about Rihanna lauching her own luxury fashion house.
That’s right there have been reports on Rihanna launching her own fashion house under the multinational conglomerate LVMH (Louis Vuitton Moet Hennessy).
Talks of a LVMH and Rihanna luxury fashion house began after Rihanna was spotted wearing a pair of sunglasses with the word “Fenty” inscribe. And one wouldn’t be wrong to assume the two are launching a brand given this isn’t the first time the two have collaborated.
When Rihanna launched her Fenty Beauty line she did it in collaboration with the Kendo division of LVMH bringing in $72 million in one month and even outperforming Kylie Cosmetics with first month’s sales being five times more than the 21 year old Jenner.
After seeing those numbers If I were LVMH I’d definitely consider giving Rihanna her own fashion house after seeing those numbers.
But Rihanna would just be making money for the conglomerate she would also be making history. If the rumors are true and if she will indeed have her own luxury fashion house, she would be the first black female designer of the company.
Nothing has been confirmed yet but hopefully the talks are true and we can all scream, run, and pass out of excitement.
