“Before you touch that plate boy you better bow” is what echoes from the young king himself, HpN Hallie.
As a token of honor, Hallie actually derived his artist name from the well renowned Ethiopian emperor, Haile Selassie. The HpN stands for “Helping My People Nation”, which is spray painted on the back of Hallie’s white outfit in the video.
Everything about the video screams rebellion from a system that continually tries to reduce and deplete the mental, spiritual, and physical faculties of melanated beings. The abstract visual was shot and directed by Knox.777, but this is not the first time the two have met up to produce some gold.
The abandoned church complements the grungy 808 theme, which Hallie loves to spit over. The Drum Kitchen gets the credit for producing the grungy 808 beats like “Amen”. The spirit of duality can be detected while watching the visual, as Hallie is seen running away from demon (dressed in black) that is trying to capture his soul, while the other individual with the mask represents the power that is needed to ascend within one’s self, to combat negative forces.
