Tyler Honeycutt who played basketball at UCLA, and for two overseas pro teams was found dead after barricading himself in his home and exchanging gunfire with the Los Angeles police. SWAT team officers responded to a call of a “man with a gun” around 5pm in the evening on Friday.
Honeycutt had reportedly barricaded himself in the home after shots were exchanged with police, this started an 11-hour standoff. A SWAT team eventually entered the home and located an unresponsive male, who was pronounced dead at the scene with a self-inflicted gunshot wound to the head. The initial reports that were made had many believing that the 27- year- old basketball player was shot by the police, but now suicide is being considered.
Honeycutt, was known for his versatility on the court and had just returned back to the U.S from playing professional basketball in Russia.
