The school district officials in Philadelphia and police say an eighth-grader stabbed a 13-year-old boy in the stomach with scissors after an altercation in science class, and the boy is in stable condition at a hospital. The incident happened around 11 a.m. at William Dick Public School along the 2400 block of North 24th Street.
Lee Whack says the stabbing happened as students were transitioning to their next class just before noon. He says the two classmates had an altercation during science at but, the teacher de-escalated it and thought it was resolved.
The school serves students in grades kindergarten to eighth.
A student has been arrested after stabbing a classmate in a North Philadelphia school, police said.
