On Monday night, the West Hollywood council unanimously voted on the removal of Donald Trump’s Hollywood Walk of Fame star. Since the beginning of Trump’s candidacy this star has been a constant source of conflict. It has been repeatedly vandalized and defaced. It has also been destroyed twice, most recently with a pickaxe.
Trump received his star on the Walk of Fame back 2007 after producing the Miss Universe Pageant.
The West Hollywood Council’s decision was also based on the President’s “disturbing treatment of women and other actions that do not meet the shared values of the City of West Hollywood, the region, state, and country.” This would be the first removal in the Walks 60 year history.
In order to avoid this problem is the future the Walk of Fame overseers are being asked to consider weighing a celebrity’s personal history in the decision to give out a star.
