Well, it looks like Santa Claus didn’t make his way down the Celtics’ Chimney last night. The Wizards trample over the Celtics’ Christmas joy with their 111-103 final score behind their dynamic duo. Washington’s gifted guards displayed their talents yesterday in the win against Boston. John Wall had 21 points and 14 assists while Bradley Beal led the team in scoring with 24 points to ruin the Celtic’s first Christmas Day home game in the team’s history.
Wall showed his leadership in the game; The all-star point guard took control in the last quarter, bringing the Wizards back from a five-point lead with only six minutes left to go in the game. He accounted for 20 of the final 26 points for Washington, which ultimately helped them come out on top. At the end of the game, Wall stated “Playing against a great team, one of the hottest teams in the league. They’ve been in a slump, but it’s a team that we know we might have to battle later on.”
On that note, the Celtics have lost three out of their last four games, and they are 11-8 since the amazing 16-2 start to the season. Irving still feels confident in his team, stating “It hasn’t been one of the best stretches for us, but we have a resilient group.”
Both teams have match-ups on Wednesday, as the Wizards look to defeat the Hawks in Atlanta and the Celtics square off against the Hornets in Charlotte. Check out both of the teams’ websites for more stats from the game.
