With the 2018 NFL Draft coming up in two weeks, here’s my first mock draft on the top ten picks of the draft.
1. Cleveland Browns- Sam Darnold QB, USC
The Brown must select a quarterback with the number one overall pick in order to change their losing culture. Sam Darnold who is considered as the best quarterback prospect since Andrew Luck should go first in the draft.
2. Buffalo Bills via trade New York Giants- Josh Allen QB, Wyoming
The Giants basically control this draft since they have such a valuable pick being in the number two spot. The Bills who are desperate for a quarterback will trade up to the number two spot and take Josh Allen from Wyoming. Allen who has a very big, strong arm is a perfect fit for Buffalo’s inclement weather and can be a franchise quarterback for them in the years to come.
3. New York Jets- Josh Rosen QB, UCLA
After the Jets traded up to the number three spot with the Indianapolis Colts it’s very obvious that they will take a quarterback. Josh Rosen with an outspoken and unique personality will be able to handle the New York spotlight. Many NFL scouts have reported that Rosen is the most precise and accurate thrower in this quarterback draft class.
4. Cleveland Browns- Quenton Nelson- OG, Notre Dame
Joe Thomas who is a future Hall of Fame tackle just retired from the Browns during the offseason. Quenton Nelson seems like the perfect replacement on the offensive line and will soon be able to protect Darnold in the years to come.
5. Denver Broncos- Bradley Chubb DE, N.C. State
After getting quarterback Case Keenum in free agency the Broncos don’t feel like they are forced to draft a quarterback with the fifth pick. Bradley Chubb who is the best edge rusher in the draft will be a great fit being paired up with Von Miller.
6. Indianapolis Colts- Saquon Barkley RB, Penn State
The Colts have been in desperate need for an elite running back since Andrew Luck has been drafted. Barkley is too elite of a talent to pass up and will be a difference maker for the Colts offense.
7. Tampa Bay Buccaneers- Derwin James- S, Florida State
The Buccaneers’ secondary needs an impact player like James to help improve their struggling defense. James draws similarities to the great former NFL safety Sean Taylor which proves that he is one of the best defensive backs in this draft class.
8. Chicago Bears- Denzel Ward- CB, Ohio State
During this offseason the Bears have been upgrading on the offensive side of the ball. However, drafting Denzel Ward who is an elite cover corner with tremendous speed, quickness, and movement skills is a top priority for the Bears defense.
9. San Francisco 49ers- Roquan Smith- LB, Georgia
Smith is an explosive sideline-to-sideline player that would add great depth to the 49ers linebacking core. Smith who is a destructive force on the defensive side of the ball will make immediate impact for the 49ers.
10. Oakland Raiders- Tremaine Edmunds- LB, Virginia Tech
Edmunds is a versatile linebacker that adds explosiveness to the Raiders defense and will be a great being paired up with Khalil Mack. Edmunds is a terrific run-and-chase defender who phas great pass rushing skills.
