Karen Civil embodies the definition of black girl power and travels back to her hometown Elizabeth, New Jersey to showcase her efforts in promoting positivity throughout the community.
Civil teamed up with Beats By Dre and Adidas to provide t-shirts, sneakers and headphones from the two brands. Civil’s motivation in starting Live Civil Day was more than just returning back home but, to inspire the natives and show them that it’s possible to make it out of a small town like Elizabeth.
”In efforts to encourage, uplift, and inspire, Live Civil Day was started to promote the youth to stay fit, active, and motivated. It serves as a tool to deliver the importance of health and wellness while bringing the community together for a positive cause. As an Elizabeth Native, I have the responsibility to give back to my community. I want the students to know that they can create the life they dream of despite the odds that are stacked against them,” stated Karen Civil.
The event was amazing and it was great to see the children so excited to see Civil back home. I have always looked up to Civil but, her efforts in inspiring the youth is great.
“Live Civil Day is a day of positive giving back, to the youth and families throughout Elizabeth. I on behalf of the city of Elizabeth truly thank Karen for giving back to our residents. Karen’s belief in empowering communities across the country is welcomed home and she is paying it forward to the Elizabeth community that assisted in her success,” stated Patricia Perkins-Auguste, Council Woman-At-Large.
