There’s no better time than now to be a female in hip-hop. Atlanta based artist, songwriter and entrepreneur Jaylii brings that truth home. She lives by the mantra “Put Yourself On,” it’s a staple in her clothing line but more importantly a staple in her way of life. Last month, she put on her own sold-out concert at ‘My Sisters Room’ in Atlanta, put together a motivated street team amid online promotion and filled the venue from wall to wall. That’s impressive for an indie artist, for any artist – truthfully.
Jaylii stepped away for a couple years due to some shady contractual business that you can hear about in her “Walk Freestyle” but you can’t keep a Queen down for long – she’s back with an independent vengeance. There’s always room for more real MC’s to enter the music scene that’s been trampled over by mumble rap and desired instant popularity. In 2018, she released her full-length project Put Yourself On hosted by the hottest duo Bo$$ Britt and DJ eXeL laced with 15 tracks and instrumentals from top-charting singles that she obviously should have been a featuring participant on. She spits nothing but fire over tracks like Kodak Black’s “Roll in Peace,”Yo Gotti’s “Rake It Up” and Drake’s “God’s Plan.” Her lyricism is intentional, narrative-filled and imperative to the current pulse of this generation of music.
Jaylii’s flow is not only effortless but lyrically potent – double-whammy. Late last year, she released the second installment of her Put Yourself On series, this time it boasted with nothing but original records thus emphasizing her ability to murder your favorite instrumentals amid a clear knack for cultivating her own hit-worthy content. She also threw a sold-out listening party to debut the album. “Check on Me,” one of the hit records from that project, will inevitably propel her to well-deserved heights. It’s becoming uber-popular in the Georgia scene and soon enough it will touch the rest of the states. It’s already garnered some radio play and thousands of views on her YouTube and social media outlets.
She’s stunningly versatile with the ability to sift from bar-aficionado to songstress in a matter of moments. It’s clear she won’t take her foot off the gas; better catch her in action soon but either way the prices are going up and the earned applause is on its merry way.
From bad deals to self-made acclaim, Jaylii represents the modern heart-throb of music with her love and influence from iconic music predecessors and her trained ear to combine the now with then making her an ascending staple in this industry.
More than a modern-day artist creating momentary vibes, she’s indeed a hit-maker. Check out her music below and watch Jaylii become your favorite new music muse.
