Lauryn Hill Recruits Special Guests for Diaspora Tour

By Miya Jones

Lauryn Hill is getting ready to embark on her MLH Caravan: A Diaspora Calling! Tour that started Aug. 27 right here in Philly and she has decided to bring a few popular artists along for the ride.

Kehlani, Nas, Little Simz and Noname are set to join the tour. Nas will perform in San Francisco and Seattle and Kehlani will perform in San Francisco, Seattle and New York City. Noname and Little Simz will hit up Detroit, Minneapolis, Atlanta, Boston, New York, Los Angeles, San Francisco, Seattle and New Orleans.

Hill wanted to have people from the African diaspora on her tour because the tour is centered around unity and the culture of the African diaspora. This tour is somewhat of a continuation of Hill’s Inaugural Diaspora Calling! music festival that she held in Brooklyn back in April. Hill aims to use this tour to create an environment of peace and unity that is needed in these times. Hill issued the following statement about the tour.

“In these days of tension, tumult and transition, an exchange of this kind can yield direction, expression, understanding and empowerment as well as connections, self love and appreciation that hopefully overflows into our respective communities.”
