The self-proclaimed “King of the Youth,” Lil Yachty dropped his sophomore effort last week entitled ‘Lil Boat 2.’ While Lil Boat 2 is a sequel to the original Lil Boat, there are very few similarities between the two. Yachty decided to ditch the bubble gum trap sound, and instead, traded it in for hard hitting 808s. The album is filled with a heavy hitting list of features that includes appearances from Ugly God, 2 Chainz, Quavo, PnB Rock, Tee Grizzley, NBA YoungBoy, Lil Pump, Trippie Redd, and two features from Offset.

Being a fan of  the ‘Lil Boat’ mixtape, I personally wasn’t a huge fan of ‘Lil Boat 2.’ With the exception of a few songs like “She Ready” and “Love Me Forever,” just about all of the other songs sound the same. I was pretty underwhelmed with Yachty’s use of the beats and the features he had didn’t really help in that department. While this album was a step above ‘Teenage Emotions,’  in my opinion, ‘Lil Boat 2’ was a 4.5 out of 10 stars at best.
